A Czech immigrant of Jewish descent, he was the first to bring and market the phonograph in Brazil. Creative, enterprising, Figner is the first of the music industry in the country and founder of Odeon, having released numerous artists that came to become famous as Francisco Alves and Pixinguinha.
Acting in Spiritism, was a member of the board of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation. He has worked tirelessly in innumerable artistic and social causes. It was Frederico Figner who donated the land for the creation of the Retreat of the Artists of Jacarepaguá (Rio de Janeiro – Brazil), in 1918, an institution that until today welcomes elderly artists in financial difficulties.
